PS3 and Yellow Dog Linux?

Sony allows for third party Opperating Systems to be installed on the PS3 "Other OS". This is similare the adding the MOD Chip to the old X-Box and running the Evolution X OS. thus allowing you to copy "Backup" Games to the Hard drive. My Question, Does Yellow Dog Linux "YDL" allow for Backups to Hard drive? is there software that will runonlinuxand allow this? like Game Copy X?

  1. You cannot access the PS3s RSX chip through Linux. You have none of the graphics power of the PS3 while running a seperate OS, so you cannot play PS3 games through it (and no, no software exists). Also, each PS3 game can be up to 50gb, so you'd need one hell of an external hard drive to get a decent number of games (I say external because the ps3 only allows a 10gb partition for a seperate OS). Basically there is no way you are ever going to be able to run backup games. Even if the PS3 is eventually hacked, Sony can just release a patch that bans those consoles from future updates and online play. There is no point in modding your console anymore. You'll just end up ruining a $600 piece of hardware (or at the very least be unable to play online, which is like half the fun).
