PSP upgrade to PSP Slim?

I am going out to trade my PSP Phat for a PSP Slim and Lite, however before I do this I just wanted to make sure I will be able to do what I have been doing on my PSP phat on the PSP Slim and Lite. I have 3.52 M33 on my PSP phat so I can play the PS1 games I have on my PSP, will I be able to do this on the PSP Slim aswell? so basically downgrade to a custom firmware to allow it to play PS1 games? I also have backups of my PSP games on my Memory card and play from that, so Would I also be able to do this with a PSP Slim? I have created a Pandora's battery and a magic memory card thing using my PSP Phat so I could downgrade it from 3.90 M33, which was causing some compatibility issues, to 1.5 then upgrade to 3.52 M33 firmware, would this also work with the PSP Slim?

  1. you'd need to do another pandora since the batteries are different sizes. i would suggest just sticking with your phat man, unless its in crappy condition. the only real advantage to the slim is that it can connect to a TV, but thats not much of an advantage really, the display is the same size.
  2. Your pandora battery and magic mem stick will work just the same on a slim and allow you to downgrade it - but please be aware that you cannot use 1.5 kernel on a Slim unless you use Dark Alex's "Time Machine". Your phat pandora battery will fit in the slim, but not with the battery cover on - I guess it won't be a problem because as soon as you downgrade you can go back to your normal battery anyway. Running games will be fine but some emulators and homebrew require 1.5 to operate. I love my PSP slim - as well as being able to connect to a TV it has twice the amount of RAM so things load quicker and emulators can run bigger games as they have more memory to play with. Plus, if it's your thing, you can use Skype on a PSP but only the slim version. Good luck.
  3. eaglekee is wrong the slim one doesn't connect to the tv they made one yes and it's in a bronze colour but it's only in japan not in europe we might get it next year or the next i have a phat one and my mate as the slim and his doesn't connect to the tv mate. He is however right about the battery they are slimline one's.
