Backup PS2 Games?
How can I backup PS2 games? Is there a way without modchip or swap magic, dont have a credit card and can only use stuff from stores. I hear that if you make a Pefect Copy (1:1, one-to-one) it will act like a real game, how can this be done? If I even would find a chip would it be worth it cuz why have a modded PS2 when I could get a modded PS3 that plays all those games and more, since PS2 is getting obsolete, I can play PS1 games on PSP Via Dark_AleX popstation. I hear sony is threatening modded PS3 owners though, but this if just for backup and DRM violates my rights as a consumer. I UNDERSTAND THAT PIRACY IS ILLEGAL AND AM ONLY WANTING TO BACKUP MY OWN GAMES DONT GIVE ME ANY ANWSERS ABOUT "That's illegal" or "dont pirate" backup is legal and DRM removes rights! Or is there a PS2 emualtor for Vista that runs on Dual Core 1.73 MHz, 1 GB ram that will read ISO or DVD in the drive? Isn't HD Advance the same as Swap Magic? Where can I get it, I dont have a credit card, but maybe in the future can setup paypal or money order, but I prefer stores anyways. Also with the PS3 out, is it worth it, but then again PS3 games are like 20 GB on a full Blu-Ray and that means a 60 GB HD will only hold 3 games, unless I burn but when a Blu Ray burner is $800 and a blank disk is $20 its cheaper to buy the game twice as a bacup, but why buy it twice? Wait so http://www.hdadvance.com/ is a disk I run to play games off the hard drive? Can I use any hard drive or just theirs?

- A 1:1 copy can only be done with a special burner, which I'm pretty sure consumers can't get. Look into HD Advance. You can put games on a hard drive and boot from the HD Advance dvd. No modding is required. There is no way to just burn a PS2 game and play it, you'll have to get either HD Advance, Swap Magic, or a modchip. I prefer the methods that don't need soldering, but do some research and find the one that is best for you.
- First of all, PS2 games are pressed in a factory. This press can put data in a special sector, that normal PC disc writers are unable to read and write. So no matter how exactly you copy the PS2 disc, this special sector will always be missing on your copy. The PS2 however will read this sector, and if it's missing, won't play the game until the console was chipped. Since there is no way (yet) to get the PS3 modified to play PS2 or PS3 backups, you're contradicting yourself. You want to copy games, but since the PS2 is obsolete soon, you don't want the PS2 chipped to play the backups? Anyways: HD advance is a great way to play backups from a Harddisc inside the PS2. This will reduce loading times and improve the life span of the PS2's laser unit. It's only available for PS2 and won't work on PS3. You will need a credit card to buy it unfortunately. http://www.hdadvance.com/ As for PC emulators: The most compatible emulator is PCSX2 available at the link below. However, bear in mind, that this emulator is still a work in progress. A lot of games don't work. Therefore they put up a compatibility list. Check the list to see if a game works. If it's not on the list, then it won't work. Of about 1800 tested games only 700 games work so well, that you can finish the game. And these 700 games include different versions of one game for europe, USA, japan and so one. So you could say, only about 200 unique games work.
